Board of Directors

Mrs. Kimberly J. James, is the Founder & President of the Dream in Color Foundation. She is a life coach, a motivational speaker, the author of Running on G: What's Filling Your Tank?

Kim is a graduate of Hampton University with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Speech Communication and Theatre Arts and discovered early that dance has been her center of gravity since she was a child. At the age of 26, Kim defied the odds, being one of the oldest and one of very few minority dancers as a St. Louis Rams Cheerleader. She later moved to New York City, where she expanded her artistic skills by studying at Steps on Broadway and the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Prior to starting the Dream in Color Foundation in 2005, she taught and directed various educational and dance programs in both the public and private school systems and is dedicated to empowering young people to dream big, pursue it relentlessly and live their lives helping others. The combination of Kim's love of the performing arts, her desire to diversify the arts industry and her commitment to inspiring our youth to achieve their goals personifies the Dream in Color concept.

Kim has served as DICF's program director for the past six years and has received numerous accolades in the areas of community service and her commitment to artistic excellence. In 2009, she was selected as the "Woman of the Year in Performing Arts" by the National Association of Professional and Executive Women. She was honored by the U.S. Air Force 11th Wing company commander with a medal of honor for her commitment to community service and most recently in December 2011, she has been featured as one of Harris' Heroes on ABC News 7 – WJLA.
