Help us "Activate a Dream"
“Activate A Dream” is a one time appeal with the specific purpose of raising funds for the 2008 competition season. DICF anticipated our students joining the competition stage in spring of 2009, however, as children do – they surprised us! They have worked hard and are now ready to compete this spring. We are a place for dreamers and we want to make this a reality for them. We are rapidly approaching the competition season and wish to provide an opportunity for our kids to experience the personal growth and sense of accomplishment that comes with performance level presentations. We are looking for partners, such as you, to meet our very realistic goal. We are in need of funding for competition gear, stage props, and additional rehearsal time with their instructors. We will have 21 talented boys and girls competing in tap, lyrical, modern/contemporary, musical theatre, jazz, and hip hop.

Our short-term goal is $10,000 and we are close. We have just a few weeks left to raise the remaining funds. We are asking you for a small contribution in the range of $25 to $200. At the conclusion of the season, we will send you a cd of our performances and a photo of our team to show our appreciation and share our experience. Of course, your contribution is 100% tax-deductible.

Our Mission

The Dream in Color Foundation has been organized to facilitate an arts program that strives to diversify both the participation in and appreciation of the Performing Arts. The program is designed to make dance and music instruction activities more accessible to underprivileged children by providing scholarship assistance, transportation assistance, academic support and nutritional guidance programs. We feel it is important to offer these additional services so that no socio-economic group is excluded from having the benefits of the "Arts Advantage".

Our services offer children of all ages top quality instruction in both dance and music in a nurturing environment, emphasizing self-esteem, cultural pride, artistic growth and commitment to one's self. We will provide creative incentives for children of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds in order to help them overcome the barriers that hinder their advancement and lead them on the path to healthy habits and a promising future.

Why Dance

Dance provides all three components of any well-rounded exercise program: stretch, resistance training, and aerobics. A dancer's outlook takes on a renewed sense of creativity, motivation and energy, and provides an emotional outlet to express feelings through body movement. Dance builds self-esteem. Additionally, it instills confidence and the ability to enjoy one's self in public. Everyone has the ability to dance. It only needs to be cultivated through instruction. Tap into your soul and discover the rhythm that will inspire you to dance and to dream.
