Dream in Color's goal is to actively work to unify our communities by encouraging and facilitating diversity in the arts through our dance and music program and activities. We will provide creative incentives for children of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds in order to help them overcome the barriers that hinder their advancement and lead them on the path to healthy habits and a promising future. DICF is strategically placed in the Annandale, Virginia suburb of Washington, DC to reach and serve the increasingly high population of school aged children living below the poverty line in both Annandale and neighboring counties. We will provide all levels of dance instruction in the areas of ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip-hop, lyrical and liturgical, Belly Dance, Flamenco and Zumba. We offer private and small group music lessons in piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, and voice. Our arts education program will benefit all who participate; however, a major element of Dream in Color's objective is to provide scholarship assistance so that the children who are generally excluded from arts programs due to financial restraints will have the same opportunities that are generally only accessible to the privileged population.

We hope to secure the means to provide transportation from area schools so that the students who are often left home alone, or in SACC programs, can take advantage of our dance classes as well as benefit from the homework assistance time with our tutoring staff in the study hall room. We will impose a minimum standard GPA of 2.0 for our scholarship recipients to continue through our program because we feel that their academic success is as equally important as the physical health and social benefits of our dance arts program. Further, we intend to bring on board a nutritionist to advise our students on how to implement and maintain healthy eating habits, as well as assist students who struggle with obesity.

DICF's program has now extended its services further into the community by sending our instructors to local preschools for FREE dance introduction classes once a week so that children ages 3 to 5 can begin to develop an interest in dance and get a head start in their artistic, academic and social development. We believe that early stimulation in the arts will set a higher standard of excellence in many different facets of a child's life and, depending on one's family background, could possibly save them from destructive behaviors that will paralyze their potential to thrive into adulthood.

We host an annual production to showcase our students' talent and our mission in celebration of cultural diversity. With both fundraising events and corporate sponsorships, we are able to fund the participation of local professional and semi-professional performers in both dance and music.

Our summer work-study programs will offer opportunities for our high school aged students to participate in community service programs, so they grasp the concept of giving back to their community, which include, participating in a Big Sister/Brother program and assisting the elderly. In addition, we will host summer camps with open admission and workshops, exposing our students and other members of our community to multicultural dance styles, guest musicians and opportunities that are available within the many college performing arts programs in Virginia and neighboring states.
